New purchase but no owners manual unfortunately, hence the stupid questions
1999 2.0 CDX auto Dual Fuel
From what I was told the rocker switch on the console is used to toggle between Petrol and LPG, and the operation is:-
1) Once car has warmed up you can switch to LPG.
2) When switched the engine management light will come on and then go off
3) If the engine management light comes on for 5 seconds then its dropped out of LPG.
I was told this whilst I was fiddling around with the gadgets - so I didn't really absorb it. Now for some questions that I should have asked:-
1) If the rocker switch is set to LPG when you first turn on the engine what happens (the light flashes on my switch).
2) Whats the purpose of the light on the rocker switch.
3) If you turn on the LPG and the engine management light doesn't illuminate how do you know its running on LPG?
4) If the engine management light does flash on, but later on it comes on for 5 sec and then goes off, and you don't notice it (too sunny) how do you know if you are running on LPG?
5) I've heard mention that the fuel guage displays LPG when in LPG mode - is that true? - mine doesn't seem to change when toggling between Petrol and LPG.
Help with the above, and/or a description of what should happen to switch and engine managment light would be appreciated. :)

The way the system works will vary from system to system .. mine is not at all like you describe .. and I've NEVER had the EML on for a gas issue.
Might be worth you posting up as much as you can about the make of your system .. it is often written on the vapouriser.

I doubt the engine management light is the normal way to tell if it's switched to LPG. Should have another light somewhere to show that it has switched over. Most change colour on the rocker switch itself but don't know your system unfortunately. I take it - it's a factory fitted LPG system? Think it's a Koltec if it is.

It is the factory system, not aftermarket.

I located the distributor for the LPG earlier today - its circular much like the early fuel injection distributors. I have yet to locate the vapouriser.
Their is a dual fuel badge on the boot, a vauxhall LPG sticker that states its a high pressure system and should only be serviced by a vauxhall mechanic, in the engine bay - and the log book has it registered as a dual fuel vehicle.

I know nothing about the factory fit LPG .. in fact never even seen one !!
The Handbook doesn't mention it at all ... :(
If you don't have a handbook BTW .. you can get one electronically here ..

Thanks for the link - I now know that what I thought was the the Engine management light is actually the Exhuast Emission Light. This being tied to the LPG actually makes sense - I suspect they just hooked the LPG system up this rather than creating a new idiot light.
Alas the link doesn't answer my questions. I suspect the LPG operation was a supplement to the owners manual.

If it's possible I'll post photos of the factory install, if and when I can locate the important bits, and the weathers decent.

Here's a link to some pictures of vaporizers so you can get an idea what you are looking for. It's possible a service on the vap could get you going again, although there are many reasons your system may or may not be working.

Yep, good forum and Rossko is definitely the man to ask. Can take days for an answer though but be patient. Noticed a couple of the OOF members on it.
