Hope someone can help on this 2.0L 16v when engine gets warm i sometimes get a slight missfire but on monday when driving along engine lost power as if running on 2 pots eml came on when i stopped and restarted the car all was fine ive been told by the rac it could be the crank sensor. could this be right i would be greatfull for any advice. :-/
-
That sounds about right but some of the 2.0L jockeys should put you right

Sounds like cam sensor mate. Crank sensor is more common on the v6's. Easy way to find out - read paperclip test in the maintenance section. Count the flashes and post the code.

thanks for advice i with give it a try cheers

ive given paper clip test ago and no codes came up which sensor should i try first. :-/

When you say in your earlier post that the EML came on was that before or after the engine stopped? If it came on while the engine was still running there should definitely be a code stored in there.
Give the paperclip test another bash if that's the case. I use a piece of broken off solder to short the pins as I find it fits into the pins a lot better.
If you are sure there are no codes you could try cleaning the cam sensor. Take off the fan belt, timing belt cover, ecotec strip (spark plug cover), remove the plug from the cam sensor. Then remove the sensor itself - it sits between the cam sprockets at the front of the engine. Clean the metal part of the sensor and it's mating face.

spark plugs?
