Title: Switchgear - interchangeable with other VX's?
Post by: TECHNOPUG on 17 October 2008, 14:37:53
Need to get the car MoT'd (well, a couple of weeks ago probably) and I believe that I need to replace the indicator/lights switch. It all works, however the full beam doesn't click "on" - you have to keep the switch pulled back. I presume an MoT failure? There is grinding behind the wheel on hard lock, so I presume that a plastic catch has just snapped off.

Soooo......can the switchgear be sourced from other VX's or is it Omega specific? Obviously don't want to pay stealers prices so would be going on a scrapyard hunt.

Cheers,

Andrew

That is unfortunately a common fault on 2nd hand stalks, and why new are often recommended when fitting cruise.
Would appear they dont like being distrubed.

should be plenty 2nd hand ones about from people who have added cruise..

I bought a non gen cruise / indicator stalk of ebay, cheap enough but doesnt 'lock' very nicely for the indicators, cancels far too easily

loads on ebay for about a fiver though....

On another MoT related note: will a slight missfire under load due to cam-cover seals needing replacing be a fail? I guess that they aren't likely to drive it! So.....oil in the plugs a failure? It doesn't smoke so hopefully emissions will be fine! Hopefully then all I need to do is fix the clattering exhaust.

New one from the dealers, not that expensive and they all wear out

Thanks for the other but I discovered that pushing the switch forward does indeed turn the lights to full beam.....must have been having a very blonde moment!

...and if you'd gone to the stealers they'd have still probably charged you £80 for the privilege.   :)

I like the easy fixes!
