Title: Changing idle speed
Post by: markh1 on 20 October 2008, 16:55:20
Hi all,

Having just bought an omega 3.0 manual I have noticed the idle speed is very low at about 500rpm. How do I bring it back up to what it should be?

Thanks.

not an expert myself but reading various threads on here 500rpm sounds about right. Mine ticks over at 500

500 is about right, will rise slightly with a/c running

Should add that at 500 rpm it should idle perfectly smoothly, if its rough or lumpy then there is something wrong.
If you are used to 4 cylinders then 500 will seem low but you soon get used to it.

Im suprised that its meant to be that low. It does seem to 'hunt' a bit though however.

The idle speed is fine, but if you have a bit of a lumpy idle:

Clean breathers
Check for leaks on air intake
Check for vac leaks
Check EGR (or blank it)
Clean Idle Control Valve
