Title: Olstand prüfung - check oil message on MID
Post by: gsizoli on 20 October 2008, 20:39:45
Hi!

I've experienced a strange message on MID.
I drove on the highway with 80mph speed when a message appeared on the MID screen:Olstand prufung - as i know it means in English Check Oil (level). I stopped on the next fuel station and waited some minutes and checked the oil level which was OK (it was on the max).
i comtinued my journey and everything was OK all day, but later - certainly on the highway- the message has appeared again :o
Does anybody know what can cause an error message like this?Too much oli, oil level sensor, contact problems??
Any idea or experience for somebody about this?
Thanks:
Br

That message can appear when oil gets to around 1/2 way between min and max.

Failing that, it might be the level sensor, or the wiring in between.

I often get this message when I am due an oil change, it must backup behind the filter thus causing the sump level to drop.

With fresh oil it doesnt happen
