Hi, got some sensors form dealer - shafted @ £30 for the pair. Anyway, some one at weekend said, why don't you just unplug them? -They are only there for people who don't bother to check pad wear!
I asked, won't that indicate a fault that they are disconnected. I was assured it wouldn't. Just sounds too easy to unplug them. Will it / won't it?
Having new pads and discs fitted by previous owner but bake pad warning on dash, would an MOT tester fail brakes cos this warning is present?

Pretty sure unplugging will register as a fault....
But cutting the old sensor off the end, and joining the wires together wont ;)

now this is a bit vague, but first time i did my breaks, i did not know about the sensors, and boke them, or one at least. i had to reassemble breaks, with one missing, go buy sensors. re fitted, re assembled. i have never seen a brake pad warning on a mig. Dont know what one looks like. :-/

Yes it will register as a fault. They see a fault when the sensor sees an open circuit, ie when the disc wears through the sensor. You can of course, cut the ceramic bit off the end & join the two wires togther to turn the ligh off. You're then back to the old fashioned way of looking at your pads every now & then. ;) :y :y

Thanks for that guys, just until I can get round to fit the new sensors I'll make ot see a cpmplete curcuit
