Title: burning rubber type smell....update

Hi guys/gals
Anyone remember my post on burning rubber type smell,anyhoo finally got round to having a good shufty.There was smoke coming from the right of engine block someway down,the exhaust side is it?.Is this likely to be cam cover seal gone on this side,saw on here that thats where they go most of all.How urgent as regards doing immediately or waiting a couple of weeks cos i want to gat a list of stuff to  do altogether but will bow to your far superior knowledge.
Also had to top up power steering fluid again 2nd time in 2 weeks.I did notice a rag under reservoir and the pipe going to it looks damp,how likeley to be leaky pipe connection or do they go commonly some other place.longwinded sorry
