car has latest software as of wim open day(May this year?) courtesy of TB. Going to work this morning 5.30am and i was bloody cold in the car first thing, selected 26 on cc on auto to get the temp to rise to a higher level than my usual 22/23, auto recirculate selected as normal (not re circulate) but this makes no differeance as its the same with or without as i guess it should be.
Sat with the heated seat on full waiting for the warmth to arrive, and noticed, gradually, that there was nothing coming from the centre vent. Side vents had the usual pleasant flow of warmth as did the floor vents. Centre vents, nowt.
Turn the temp down 1 by 1 and the flow of centre vent gradually starts to come back at 24 and increases as your decrease the temp down towards Lo. I dont think there is anything wrong with the flap motors as selecting the face vents(auto turns off) gives a good blast of warm air. I suspect this is the software, and its dawned on me that this is the first winter i have faced with the latest update as i have not noticed this before.(previous omega sold before i really got involved with the forum, the fans on that where a bit strong)
Does anyone else have the same thing with the latest cc firmware(or otherwise) or looking at it the other way, do you NOT have this issue with no update at all to the climate control software? I suspect not. I guess you need to know if your cc has been updated or not... Cheers
Chris.

99 MV6 software was checked at Newent and was the latest already myn works perfectly set it to high auto with eco on and 10mins down the road and its nice and toasty in there!

Yep, mine only heats to the outside vents too. Maybe to keep the windows clear, or prevent draughts. :-/
I found this the other day, too:
Automatic Blower Programs
ENABLED: The Electronic Climate Control unit controls the blower in 7 automatic blower programs. (Default production setting)
DISABLED: Only blower program 4 is automatically controlled, blower steps 1-3, 5-7 run at selected constant speeds.
Select 'DISABLED' only in case of customer complaint.
I've always found the blower control a PITA. Not any more. :y

MY 2001 mv6 blows warm air from centre vents when its a cold day but as the inside temp increases inside the car they then start to blow cool air.Is this the norm?

maybe the latest software has "anti condensation" mode which kicks in after the inside of the car has heated upto a nice temp

The car has a de humidifier built in with the ac, on higher temps, i wonder if this may be less effective as the cc fades out the air con to give higher temps. By that i mean the windows would possibly take longer to clear/more likely to steam up at a higher temp settings. Not sure how that can affect the centre vent though...?
Manny, i would expect the air temp at the vent to tail off as the cabin reaches the desired setting.

Yes i would agree, the update seems about right except for this issue. Obviously its the first time since May that i have had the temp up above 24. The fan speed seems fine going by the side vents, it seems the centre vent flap is closed more than all the others at those temps. Personally i would be happy with the same flow as the side vents. I dont think anything is wrong though as selecting the face vents, the flow is restored. Have you been playing with your tech 2 then?

Just an idea not sure if its been done already but have you reset the motors by pressing off and auto at the same time.
-
You will prob find its giving priority to the sides to clear condensation, after a while it will distribute properly... just a thought :y

Whats with this software upgrade? My 2001 Lite has never had this (always serviced at a local independent garage). What does the software do tha the earlier version doesn't?
I find my climate control always do what I expect e.g. blows cool if outside is mild (say 16) and I set to 23. I have to raise demand to, say 25 to get warm air blowing.
Sorry to hijack thread :)
Thanks, Steve

Some have found that updating the climate control firmware improves it. If you're happy with the current situation there's probably no reason to change and mine was on the latest version anyway, so I can't really comment on the difference the update makes.
What did used to annoy me, however, is that the climate always used too much fan. Once the car is up / down to a comfortable temperature I found it left the fan running at at least half speed which is not comfortable IMHO. It left me with dry, tired eyes after a long drive.
I would constantly turn the fan speed down manually and it would, in some circumstances, not allow me to select the slower speeds or it would speed the fan up as soon as I changed any other settings on the climate panel.
Having set the "automatic blower programs" to disabled, it is much more to my liking. It seems to settle at a lower fan speed when on auto, and if I have intervened to set the fan speed manually, it stays where I have set it until I press the auto button once more.

the omega has several ecu's, not just for the engine management, but also for auto gear box. abs/traction controle, to name a few more obvious ones. They all run on software programmed in as i understand it. And climate controle is no different. The climate controle update is just a more refined version of that software, as Kevin says it basically calms the fans down a bit, they where a bit strong before. Much better, i had just never noticed this centre vent issue before under those conditions. There is also a gear box update as well. Worth a tech 2 session with one of the guys on here. Not worth a visit to vx for it though. Too expensive and they dont have a clue how to use it as a rule.
Ps dont worry about the "hijack" thing on my threads fire away i say.

I have the latest software on my cc, and it does the same. Nothing from centre vents until things are warmed up. Cant say it bothers me that much. If my hands are really cold after scraping the ice off I manually select the face vents for a minute or two.
The new software is a massive improvement over the old version which used far too much fan power when the temp changed

Having set the "automatic blower programs" to disabled
How do you this ?
