hello i'm new ear and wanted to no how to stop my 2.5td being so flat at low revs? anybody no?
-
hi frank, is yours an auto or manual?, if manual invest in a chip, if its auto then its g/box change & chip :y
-
its a w reg manual, i have bought a chip this afternoon off ebay out of Frustration, ijust check the feedback and it looked good so i had it, hope it works, its from crd tuning
-
dont know who they are to be honest, got mine via an oof chappy that does them, you might find that you will have to be a dab hand with a soldering iron as i believe the later ones aint plug ins, but depending where you are im sure somebody will be able to help you out :y
-
oh & you might want to update your profile ;)
-
er? update profile? did the chip help with low end responce and low end power when u had yours done?
-
i done mine myself as it was plug in, mine being auto showed up like a flat spot kinda thing on low revs, the chip sorted that out & more, & it makes it better on fuel, i would imagine chipping a manual would make it more fun to drive ;), oh & your profile means type of car & where you are situated.
-
ok cheers jocky, tar for now

I've got a 2.5TD manual estate.
OOF lads fitted the chip at Newent meet. It's a totally different animal now, and I reckon better on fuel too. The poor low-revs performance is a thing of the past - and it cruises brilliantly in the upper 70's.
Boost comes in much lower down the rev range, although you get a tad of black smoke on initial acceleration. It's now much more 'driveable'
Welcome to the forum, update your profile so that we can see where your at, and what Miggy you drive.

Mine chucks out more now than before I had it chipped.
Couldn't remember why I didn't like Sainsburys city diesel, now I do it really smokes on that stuff, so back to Asda or better Shell.
Just returned from weekend away TD is returning 37 mpg towing a caravan.

I believe the type of chip required depends on the ECU and also some ECUs do not have a socketed EPROM meaning you need to desolder the old chip and fit a socket.
I would check with TheBoy or Omegatoy on here that you have the correct chip before going any further, TBH.

its funny you say that as i'm sure ive orderd the wrong chip, it said
Vauxhall Omega 2.5 DTI B 150 BHP Chiptuning Tuningbox
so i just bought it thinking there was only one 2.5 td in omegas but i think i thought wrong, there seems to be a 24valve engine and i think thats what the chip i have bought is for :(
-
Not heard of a 24v 2.5TD in my experience, only 12v. :-/
The differences between the TD's really only comes down to detail - as Kevin said, whether they are socketed or not.
It sounds as though you may have a "piggy back" box - not sure where that would link up on a TD

and this http://www.globalcar.com/datasheet/Opel/2002_Opel_Omega_2.5_DTI.htm

Oh yeah... It seems there was a 24v then - does anyone know if this was Opel only or did it come into the UK market?

Not lightweight 1460kg but I'm beginning to think that can't be correct as I'm only going on what the computer read out says.
Just worked out my actual fuel usage and what it says I have left in the tank and I think I am more like 31 mpg........If yours is chipped do you believe the computer read out on your TD as being correct or does it seem out now it's chipped.

Never fitted to UK Omega. Date shows 2001 when the engine was introduced, this is when Vx started fitting their own 2.2 DTi.
Only the 12v version is in the Omega.

That answers that then! Thanks! :y

The common rail, multivalve Y25DT was only fitted to Opels (along with the 5 speed auto).
The chip has to match the ECU type, of which there are 4...
-
i recon ive bought the wrong one anyway cos its from germany so it probly is for the 24valve, so in that case does anybody no what chip i need and where to get it and how much?
