Yesterday after de-icing the car for the first time this year I decided to use the heated seats, as I was driving to work I could smell a kind of burning smell but I thought it was the car heaters or something, heated seats were working fine, turned them off when arrived at work.
Today I did the same except half way to work I realised the seat wasn't getting warm. Turned on the other seat and that didn't seem to get warm either but it was only on for a few minutes. I was thinking FUSE as I was driving but didn't know if it would be on the same circuit as something else so didn't know what to look for. :'(
I Have just checked the fuse diagram and noticed its the same as power steering and that seemed fine, I'm sure I would of noticed if that wasn't working. But after my issue with my Interior light fuse being completly different to the diagram on here too I suppose it is possible that this could be different too.
Does anyone have any other ideas for what the problem might be or has this happened to anyone?
Cheers :y :y :y

If you carefully at your seat you'll probably find a burnt patch were the heating element has started to burn through the seat cover, the element has probably now failed and the seat won't heat up. Mine did the same on a previous Omega
If no one is sitting in the seat with the heater on it takes along time before if feels warm.

Oh No I hope it hasn't ruined the leather!! I won't be a happy chappie :'( :'( :'( :'(

cheque each fuse one by one..??

That will be fun!! hehe!! Not :(

I think the same has probably happened to mine. When I last switched mine on last winter it was getting far too hot in the first 10 minutes (burnt me ar$e!!) then settled down. I thought maybe it was the thermostat on its way out. Switched it on last night for the first time and not working at all, so I presume it was the element thats fooked. Passenger side works fine.

Still to test my passenger side. Are the heaters expensive?
-
Well I tested the passenger seat and its fine, so I assume it can't be a fuse now!! will I need a new heater element then? not sure how it works!!
-
...... not sure how it works!!
You switch electrickery to them and they get hot! ;) ;) ;)
Remember that the base & lower back sections are in series with each other. :y

Once you get the seat out & the over off, it's only a cae of unplugging the two mats from the loom.

easier said than done for me!! :'(

Sounds like a bit of a bu*ger to sort out. Think I'll settle for a cold seat and turn the heating up a bit. ::) ;)

The elements are attached to the leather and won't come out. It might be possible to get a element for a cloth seat which is seperate and slide it between the leather and cushion. It will take longer to heat up but at least it will work.
