Was looking on ebay and saw this do you think that this really works

:D ;D :D ;D :D ;D :D ;D
Will not work, not even in principle... No one has yet been able to explain how it works, tens of tests made by independent European laboratories and none has found any change in fuel consumption.
its also cheaper to get two black cabel ties and put them on the fuel line, as the result will be the same.
Still wonder how someone keeps on selling these things, and even worse, people are buying them!

snakeoil ::)

complete load of bullsh!t

I've never read such a load of old cr@p in all my life! ;D
They have obviously started watching too many Calgon adverts because they're talking about "build-ups of scale" in an engine. WTF? :-? I've seen carbon in an engine, but scale?
.. and they say you should put them on coolant pipes and oil filters now? Hell, if you're stupid enough to buy one why not buy loads and stick them everywhere?
I could only think of one suggestion for where to stick them, howver, and it's best left unsaid. :-X

well, I thought I'd have a look to brighten an otherwise boring day.
The first testimonial is from someone who has a Daewoo Matiz - I mean really. You buy a Matiz and then try to use less fuel???? Why not walk? probably quicker and lots more fun than sitting in a Matiz
This has got to be a load of rubbish, if they worked then every major motor manufacturer would fit them to get better stats: boost sales etc.
-
Try Shell Optimax, worth the extra few pence.

tried 'em few years ago on my van............DONT WORK, NO DIFFERENCE !!!!!
-
THEY DO WORK HONEST !!!
if you tighten the cable tie tight enough the fuel can't get through . so you're gonna use less , brilliant device.
mind you the number of the things he says you've got to fit ,the car will weigh another half ton so I shouldn't bother.

Only fuelsaver that seems to work is the bicycle ::)

Well Devonboy, I guess that'll be a no then ;D ;D ;D
Still, I am sure that won't stop one of the shopping channels doinng a 45 minute special on how they will save your car and the climate too. :y

Got one on MV6, kindly donated by a popular member here, made sod all difference. I was sceptical, so there was no "pyschological improvements".
Actually, I don't remember seeing it for a while, wonder if its dropped off, or got lost during HG change :-/
-
about as believable as the penis enlargement pill spam emails I get sent
-
Would popping the pills in the petrol tank and tying a magnet round one's penis produce any better results, d'you think?
-
Not for the ladies, I suppose.
-
Cable tie round yer penis might work though, til you passed out.

We've never actually met and I'm newish , but why do I get the feeling this could be at least a mild understatement ?
-
because he doubted it would work the moment he set eyes on it pete.h? lol!
might have to try wrapping a cable tie round the penis-might make me drive more agressively lol

Could be handy on a long run if you need a pee aswell , I do like something with more than one use.
(Wife says she wishes I was one of 'em)

OK.... science.... or should I say scientific theory that is totally unproveable without many thousands of pounds of lab tests...
It makes scientific sense that if a combustible is polarised it will burn brighter/more efficiently. Aids in spread of chain reaction etc...
in practice this is a load of bull.
one magnet on one side of a fuel line will make absolutely no difference. I'd be very dubious if it made any difference to a matiz, and just adding one tiny magnet to a 2.0 litre plus will most definately do nothing.
if the fuel stands any chance of being polarised it needs to pass through an magnetic field, not past one. therefore you would need at least 2 powerful magnets, one on each side of the line.
it is theoretically possible on the omegas, the v6 at least, as the fuel goes through a nice circular metal tube right at the side of the engine. if you were to stick several VERY POWERFUL magnets (would have to be rare-earth ones, not factory produced) to these metal pipes that is the only chance you could possibly get of polarising the fuel.
that being said I find it very very hard to beleive that you could possibly get enough magnetism to acheive any noticeable results in such a small confined space.
I have tried this, I pulled the magnets out of 2 old dead Hard Disk Drives. two massive rare earth magnets on either side of both fuel lines.
Now the proof of the pudding is of course in the eating... my fuel consumption has gone from 26 mpg over a tank to almost 28. I am more inclined however to put this down to psychology. I know I am taking measures to try to improve fuel economy which I think is subconsciously making me drive slower.
The only thing I can suggest is that you try sticking the most powerful magnets you have, if you have any (old dead hard disks are your best bet), all around the fuel lines as close to the engine as you can. then see for yourself if you think it helps, psychologically or otherwise.
Don't go and buy any magnets! its a stupid waste of money!

I wonder what would make a noticeable difference to a matiz?
I drove one once, for all of a mile. I'm not sure that a magnet would make a noticeable difference but a crusher would.
I know it is off topic but driving a matiz really did make me question my sanity...

I managed to talk my wife's sister out of buying a matiz last year.
She weighs about 18 stone , husbands 6' 5" and weighs about the same + two kids who aren't exactly skinny.
They actually test drove one and decided they could manage because it was economical !! Would like to have seen it really.
