how do I remove the black plastic unit on top of my 96 2.5 v6? I've managed to remove the cover but can't get it off as the pipes/tubes are hiting the scuttle and it won't lift out.

You might need to remove the throttle body from the front of the plenum as there are a couple of connections that run forwards into the throttle body and these prevent the breather from being lifted straight up.

so the yank and pull won't work? Bugger.

If you try to pull the breather box off without removing the throttle bodies you could damage the o rings, throttle bodies are only four torx bolts, and throttle cable, Its also a good opportunity to clean them whilst there off only a ten minute job :y

As per the maintenance guide :y

taken them off, and trying to clean the 4 pipes.. the two centre one's are completly blocked.. Although i can push a coat hanger down one, it still won't unblock...
Tried carb cleaner, wd40 and paint stripper... no joy...
Any suggestions?

When I did mine ended up using a stiff single cored speaker cable. But lots of carb cleaner too. I also let it soak in a container - but had access to litres of it from work. Only seen aerosols in Halfrauds.

Use something small to clear the small breather holes on the outlet part where it enters the plenum (as per the mainenance guide picture)
