Post by: husam on 01 November 2008, 14:05:12
Just parked and every thing was normal. 45 mints later, tried to start on with no luck? the car just went silent all of a sudden! thought it was battey failliar so I did connect the battery to another car's
the car started with things going wrong like warning lights, no radio, Safe, check, and runs no faster than 10km/hr. and when switched off, did not start again. so amazing, what is going on? Please help

Sorry but a little confused with what you are saying.  Do you mean that the engine won't turn, the lights do not come on, and indeed nothing works in your car?? :-? :-?

But when the battery is in another car, the engine does turn but very poorly, and the lights/radio are all acting "strange"??  (Have you connected the battery correctly in this car?) :-? :-?

Think he means he jump started it by connecting to another car's battery.

In your other car everything is working "strange"?? ( Have you connected the battery correctly in this car??) :-? :-?

Th Radio displaying Safe just means the battery has been disconected, and you will need to put in the code, which is on your car pass. Are any of the warning light flashing ?, the one with a spanner thro a car symbol?.

Sound's to me like the fusible link has come addrift.
Look at both battery terminals and see if they are tight .

That does sound like a possible fault to me given the facts :y

Could be the crankshaft sensor. They do tend to go without warning.

But why would lights etc not be working if it was the crank sensor? :-?

Sounds to me like a totally electrical problem. :(

Yes that was first implied and then confirmed by him in answer to my questioning post. :y   Hence Iain's post requesting he check battery connections. ;)

No. Dont agree. He didn't mention lights not working and you confused him. He would not get out of the car to check the lights with all the other stuff going on. I think he meant warning lights and, as we know, with crankshaft sensor failure, all kinds of weird things happen. I may be wrong but it would be my first port of call.

Yep, after three different threads on this one I am confused, let alone the guy himself!! ::) ::) ::) ::)

I give up; take over please!! ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

By the way STMO you stated:
"No. Dont agree. He didn't mention lights not working and you confused him. He would not get out of the car to check the lights with all the other stuff going on. You could well be right, but the interior lights are normally a clue as to lights working or not. :D :y :y

3 identical posts + communication issues = total confusion. :y

Still cant see any reference to lights (apart from Lizzie's) but the guy did say warning lights.

Needs to get out fault codes.  Tend to agree with STMO123 - crank sensor.

It is a classic, panicky reaction to his car not starting and lots of warning lights flashing. The initial thought is always one of disaster. A cool, methodical response with the right questions being asked is usually best. Unfortunately,  he went offline very quickly and I hope he's not ripping his car to bits. :)

So the car starts and runs? Not an immobiliser problem then.

Look in our Maintenence Guides section for a post called Paperclip and Pedal Trick and report back stored codes.

Maintainance guides are easy to find but use this link to read about the paperclip test/ pedal trick

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687

Please do try to give us as much of a description as possible.  I must admit to not understanding the car running at max 10km/hr then when connected to another battery is at max revs... max revs will deliver speeds well in advance of 10km/hr!

edit: beat me to it: must type faster

This has got somewhat confusing with three threads all centered around the same fault.

Spliced the three together so hopefully some sense can be wrung from the assorted posts....

Husam - please make like easier for all by keeping one fault to one thread.  We are simple folks around here.... !   :y
