Title: Auto flywheel question - will 3.0 fit into 2.2?
Post by: mkaminski100 on 07 November 2008, 11:10:05
Hi guys.
Can you please tell me if every flywheel from automatic has the same bolt footprint? I know that TD have enforcement plate, but my friend asked me a question if 3.0 auto flywheel will fit 2.2 auto.
Thanks for your help.

The standard Vx approach means that they should be interchangeable....both certainly have 6 bolts!

From the crankshaft side, these have to ok. The only thing that bothers me is the Torqe Converter side. I think that Diesel flywheels has a special enforcement  so bolt holes might be different for 2l 3l and TD.
If every TC is the same in every engine, 3.0 flywheel will fit 2l engine.

The only torque converter I know of that is physicaly different is the 2.5TD one.

the 2.5 TD has only 3 bolt hole for t/c , the t/c itself has a different diameter locating shaft engine side. :y

So TD has diferent TC and different flyywheel but do all petrol engines have same holes footprint?
