Think I have the cambelt DVD somewhere, found it in a car I got to scrap...but cant lay my hands on it atm...
Just wondering, basically if you have a cambelt locking kit, you just stick it in to stap the cams moving, undo all the bits to give access to remove the belt/tensioners...swap the old belt/tensioners with a new one...do all the bits back up...and job done? Do you need to line anything up??

If only it were that simple.
Fact of the matter is you are completely wrong, you really need to find the cambelt DVD.

They really should make it that simple! lol

Look for the dvd, there is more to it than that. The gm v6 has adjustable valve timing, to you really need to do it properly, else it will be out!
-
crank locking tool as well. And the guide wheels are adjustable. 30 mill cranked ring spanner, iirc, helps.

Get the DVD!!
Need selection of torx sockets, 5mm(?) hex allen key, 30mm cranked ring spanner + torque wrench. Locking kit is essential .
Probably need lump of wood + hammer to get crank pulley off - did on saloon but on estate came off easily!
Good luck!

if my toy ran properly then i could pop over and help you do it chris.
it's very awkward to get the teeth in the right notch (i had to take it off twice and try again)
i found it easier to put the belt on anti clockwise and i didnt have any markings to go by so checked there was roughly the right amount of tension between the various pulleys and idlers before removing the locking bits and rotating the engine through a whole cycle and double checking the timing

I dont actually need to do it...its just something I want to be able to do :)

haha!
i have the dvd to hand so can lend you it sometime if you need to
