Title: i think its just an airleak?
Post by: ngrainqey on 15 November 2008, 20:20:58
hiya...
i think i'v finally sorted out my new toy buuut....
it starts but needs holding the throttle down about halfway or it cuts out and it sounds a little rough (timing) which i'm going to look into tomorrow when i hopefully swap my 2.5 to 3.0 cams ;)

i think i have an airleak where the icv goes into the plenium - does this sound right for the symptoms of having to hold throttle down?

thanks

Get yourself over here mate and can swap over the parts that may be causing an airleak and see if it sorts it...as long as the car starts and runs its worth a trip over! lol I take it the cams arrived then?? Good stuff :)

haha might do...i'll have to see how it runs when started tomorrow and i'll let you know.

yeah martin messaged me about the cams...
i might swap the pulleys off the other engines cams so i can make up a straight swap set ;)

i think it's the actual icv fitting rubber thing into the plenium thats the leak
thanks

Our old Cav started running like sh*te, struggling to tickover. Had to keep some revs on it or it'd die. Found a tiny split in the pipe between the ICV and (I use the term loosely) plenum. New bit of pipe cured it :y
