I cant be without any transport, I need to get to work and so does the wife. I only get one day for 'me' time....so I if I do decided to replace the dis pack is there anyway of finding out what type I have fitted so I can order the pack and then on my 'me' day just undo everything...swap over and put back?
Thanks,
Andy.

Sorry, nope!
The dis packs are different, they changed the mounting style.
They changed even on the same engine, there are different styles for the 2.5, some are mounted at an angle some are vertical.
TB will know, last letter of the VIN gives the age, then someone more into V6's will know.

sorry dont know that :-[
they looks same, good to now they are different

Cheers guys.
Just want to be able to order with confidence and know I 'just' have to remove scuttle and intake stuff the once.
I will be selling my omega as soon as I get its replacement sorted. Providing solicitors are being truthful then mid december.
Anyone after a manual 1998 100K miler facelift 2.5 CD with 3.0 cams, M-Tek chip, Mintex discs and pads and full irmscher sport spring pack with recent drop links, cambelt done, water pump done, 4 tyres, best part of 10 months tax, new headlamps (the aim-level arms fractured on the original ones) oil cooler cover done, regular service with fuel filter changes etc etc
Some rusting on rear arches and just started on rear door by windows
Will consider sensible offers with either DIS pack done or not done

can anyone help please re part number without taking everything out twice to do the job?
Can it be found through chassis and engine no.s?

Have a look on here...

no plugging them btw, just to show the differences. I had to remove mine prior to changing it. 98 seemed to be a changeover for them.
-
Thanks, they're just down the road-ish from me
-
a 98 should have an oval plug dispac matey ! :y :yand the socket is on the end at 2/5 plug leads :y
-
i can see if the dis pack i have on my other lump is the right sort if you like?
-
getting a bit too dark now but will look with torch or try tomorrow
Cheers guys
-
can see the corner of the pak and it looks a dusty but no sign of wettnes.
Cant see the wiring connector either
So see if I can get some time tomorrow to take a look
-
OK now the neighbours know I'm a freak/nutter/not-all-there
Working by head torch in the rain I have the dis pack infront of me.
Now signs of 'damage' or water ingress...though the base does have what looks like scorch marks?!?!?!?
Also found one of the tiny vac tubes had come away from one the rubber elbows on the servo hose.
Wondering if that maybe the cause for the lumpy acceleration/miss fire? Or did it come away in removal of the plenum?!?!?!?
anyway...back to dis pack
oval-ish plug/socket
Bosch sticker on the side with this number on the edge between plug one and three:
0 221 503 0 1 7
Plug wells are all dry and breathers clean and clear
Will lob some fresh plugs in it too
Cleaned the idle valve though that wasnt particularly dirty either
any ideas?
-
Well I have a good replacement one here if you need it...
Might be worth plugging it back in and seeing if its better, perhaps something just came loose?
-
Problem I have is tomorrow is last day off
I HAVE to be back on the road by tomorrow midday.
The wife goes to work at midday.
Not sure if I have time to refit everything, go for a test drive, return and if need be remove and replace with new item.
Arrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found a guide on resitance values across the input terminals.
Guide suggest s 0,45 to 0,65 ohms
mine reads 0.1 ohms
Output guide says 11 to 16000ohms when checking 1 to 4 3 to 6 and 2 to 5
There is a difference on 2 to 5 to the others but still in limits
I have earnt well on o/t at work recently so just as well....£88 for dis pack and whatever for 6 plugs
-
Well all back together by 10.30. New dis pack, new plugs. Some rtv sealant around all the little vacuum pipe elbows. Likewise with idle valve.
So far so good. No more 'stumbles/coughs' when accelerating.
MPG is up too!!
