Title: Google Earth Flight Simulator!
Post by: Danny on 03 November 2007, 12:11:18
anyone else heard of this?

i just updated my google earth to the latest software version (4.2) and its fantastic!!

search youtube to see some vids posted by others

i'm playing with it on mine now, if you already have the latest version, put it on and then press Control + A! the controls are shockingly sensitive but you get used to it, and i just lost control of my plane high enough not to crash, and because it's genuine scenery its so realistic to look at!!

I had problems also, but solved it by
1. first clicking on the main screen to ensure the cursor is not in the search text box
2. If your keyboard is set to English (UK) use CTRL + A (capital A), however if your keyboard is set to English (US) use CTR + ALT + A

Try ALT + Z for German, Alternatively try setting it to English Uk temporarily to start flight sim up. Once it has started for the first time it will then always be availabale from the tools menu and you can set the keyboard language back to german.

good luck Pat

Mmm - this seems to indicate that the codes are the same http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/systems/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.aix.keyboardtechref/doc/kybdtech/German.htm

however, I did find a reference somewhere that ALT is ALT Gr on a german keyboard, so may be worth trying either
ALT Gr+A, or Ctrl+ALT Gr+A (but make sure you have clicked away from the search box first)

press "page up" to increase thrust, then press the DOWN arrow key to lift up, you'll need to hit the UP a few times to correct its level!

if you click your mouse on the centre of the screen during flight it'll turn into a cross and you can use the mouse to control it
