Hello everyone, hope you are warm. I have a 98 catera and it has had a coolant leak for about 3 months now. I recently took a long distance trip and nearly froze to death; the temp. gauge droped to 1 incriment before "C". I had zero heat in the car the entire ride but 2 days later I started it up and noticed that there was heat coming from the passenger side but not the driver's side. Has anyone else experienced this (heat on one side and not the other), is it an electrical problem or is it because the coolant isn't circulating properly? Please help because I'm freezing to death in this thing!!

I guess the first thing to do is sort out your leak & go from there, it could as you suggest be lack of coolant flow that's causing the lack of heat. Have you checked your heater by pass valve for leaks. As you stand facing the car it's behind the left hand back of cylinders ie YOUR passenger side. If you look through the site you'll find a picture of it - think Starship Enterprise ;) We pay around £35 over here for one from the dealers.

The heat on one side nd not the other is normaly down to the climate servo motors control rod popping off
Have a look in the maintenance guides section on what to look for.
