Title: oil leak 2.2 petrol
Post by: andy1965 on 27 November 2008, 21:39:39
hi all driving home tonight oil level warning display came on.
first time this has happened as i check oil weekly and never needs any. just checked oil and needed topping up. noticed side of engine very wet with oil on exhaust side of engine at the back where it meets the bellhousing. water ok. temp ok. no sign of leakage from cam cover. car is running fine. 76000 miles.
could this be early signs of head gasket failure.

I would doubt if it was head gasket failure.

When were the last time the breathers were cleaned?

Have you popped the eco strip off, to check for oil leakage there?

Usually caused because the breathers need cleaning, have a look at the guide in the Maintenance Section.
