Title: Vauxhall exhaust prices
Post by: Jukeboxnut on 27 November 2008, 19:32:26
I have rung my local Vauxhall dealer about the price for an exhaust system for my 2004 2.2 petrol estate.

I have a T/C card but they say that only the back box is on T/C, the 2 mid boxes are not and have quoted a discount price of £106 and £90.98 for the mid boxes and £57.75 for the back box, a total of £254.73 for the lot.

Does this sound right or am I being conned about the 2 mid boxes not being on T/C?

I must add that they have always been very good with T/C on oil and antifreeze etc.

I have a photocopy of a listing thats a year or more old now and it only lists the estate back box (9157104) at £56 or so plus VAT.  Only the saloon shown for centre boxes, not estate, and are £107 and £105 for right and left respectively on TC, so prices may well be about right?

I've recently replaced my 2003 saloon and got the same story.  Parts Manager offered same deal and cost is about right.

Don't forget to order VX clamps too - they don't come with any! :y

Worth every penny :y the VX ones are second to none, they'll last ages too, it's false economy to go for the cheapest / nasty 18 month life span ones :y

6 months ago i would have agreed.

But it seams now the ones coming from Vx dealers are not the quality they once were.

One i fitted to my dads was nothing like the one i got 12 months previous, none of those indentation groves in it.

The 3.0/3.2's no longer come with the chrome tips either  :'(

I agree, and disagree.

Vx one's are way better than pattern parts, but they are not second to none. A good stainless steel exhaust system is guaranteed for the life of the car and is the best of the 3 options.

Tunnie's comments ^ are right too on the Vx parts which puts them as a middle option even further down the scale.

I collected the exhaust this morning and although it is not the same as the original clamshell type with no chrome tail pipe I must say that it is much better than the flimsy type that National supply.

The dealer could not supply the clamps as apparently Vauxhall do not list them for this model!

I find this hard to believe so I had to make a quick trip to Halfords and bought some that fit perfectly.

A local garage will fit it next week for £30 which seems a fair price.

I had thought of a stainless system, but a quote of £529 (inc. VAT)from Powerflow for the twin mid box layout put me off!
