Hi to all, I have had my 2.5 Auto Elite now for about a month and in that month I went on a long drive to norfolk the car drove perfect there and back, but 2 days after I noticed that the on board comp was telling me to check the coolent when i got home i did so and noticed that water was running out from the right side of the engine at the back ? :-/ I thought that it was the hbv but was not that, :( I was told to check the coolent pipe that runs round the back of the engine, so i took all the pipes off of the hbv and then unbolted the pipe off the the back of engine, :'( what a task that was :-/ I noticed that the o ring was no good and needed replacing so done that and put all back together tested all ok But was not what I thought it was its still leaking from the back of engine and i cant see where its coming from :) can any one addvise me cheers :y

The hose clips that secures the hose's to the HBV can and do dig in, I was in your situation and that was my problem.
There should be enough hose to shorten the pipe if required.

Dont rule out hbv as it leaks when you adjust the heater contols and when you turn the heater off the leak appears to stop and make the hbv seem ok, change it anyway then look for more hoses that have gone bad.

thanks for that will have anouther look at them

If it was the hbv valve wouldent it be leaking all the time them because I can get at the valve and there is no water leaking anywhere round it at all :'(

No ;). It can depend on the water folw through it dependant on what heat is rquired in the car. Earlier this 'summer' I stopped mine from leaking by turning the A/C off untill I could get another valave. :y

ok thanks for that andy, do you know how much one of them hbv valves are then ?
so do you think if i got a new one then that poss might sort the problem out :y

They're around £30. The HBV is a known item for water leaks. I've had my car for about 6 years & the valve I changed this summer was the 2nd I've changed.
