Hi,
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/Arrolman/thermostat-M51-1.jpg)
Whats the silver housing above the thermostat(The one above the one marked) On my 2.5TD, just had to strip the front off it as there was oil dripping out the bottom of it. Now I can't get the internal part to sit back in its housing. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Iain

Vac pump.....?

Hi,
Got it sorted, couldn't get the plastic lugs to sit on the ring on the middle, bit of shoggling sorted it. Now, how do I get to the thermostat ::), weekend job I think

the bit on end of cam is vac pump. I may have a spare here if you fubar it.
The stat - once all shite removed, its just undo hose, and 3 10mm bolts. TIS suggests transfer pipe has to come off, but I never did.
As I don't run a viscous, I could do my stat in around 20mins, most of that bleeding air from coolant - its one of the few good designs on tractor.

Hi,
How much do you need to remove to get to the thermostat though? Looks like most of the stuff surrounding the fan and the fan, going to have to get new bolts for the rad cover if thats the case, mine are stripped >:(

Hi,
Viscous fan easy to come off? Had all the 'Turbo Diesel' pipework off so only the fan it would seem needs to go

Will have a go tomorrow after work, need to get it changed, takes forever to heat up. Any chance that anyone knows what size the nut is?
