Title: 2.5 V6 Heater Matrix
Post by: Phil6157 on 09 December 2008, 16:05:48
Hi to all, I have just joined as I need help!

I have a 97 Omega, the car has just started to loose coolant, I can drive for about 10-15 miles before I need to top it up. But the inside of the car will not de-mist even on a hot day.

I think the problem is the Matrix so I have ordered a new one from e-bay

I do have the haynes manual, but is there an easy way of getting the matrix in and out.

Many Thanks

Phil......... :D

Not easy, but have a look at this thread, post #13 particularly.

The purists would say that you ought to take the dash out,  but I didn't fancy that, just don't love the car that much.  :-[

Hang on a minute....we dont dive into assumptions such as heater matrix failed until a proper diagnosis has happened.

A number of things can cause steaming....blocked rear cabin vents, old pollen filter, recirc activated, blcoked scuttle drain.....all of which are far more common than a failed heater matrix.

In addition to this, there are other things that can cause water loss.

My first question would be, is the inside of the windscreen smeary?

When antifreeze gets on glass its very smeary and easy to spot!
