Title: Grey plastic tool in glovebox
Post by: Andyswad on 11 October 2008, 07:57:02
Grey plastic tool in glovebox, about 3'' long with tapered knurled hole in one end and flat birt on other, looks like it should fit over something but what?

May be a stupid question but what's it for?

Hi, I think it is for taking off the valve caps on the tyres when you have plastic trims fitted to the steel wheels.

 :)

There's still one of them clipped to the inside of SWMBO's Astra G filler cap. She'd had the car a few years before she got around to asking what it was for.  ;D

They usually 'live' on the inside of the fuel filler flip.

The flat bit is used to switch the child locks and the open end for tyre valve caps.

Designed for those that dont want a broken nail ;) ;D ;D

Lost count of how many vauxhall drivers I see fuelling up and not using the clip to hold the fuel cap...just chuck the cap on the roof, floor, pump and then forget about it.

I've seen that too. I feel I should tell them, but don't. I know we're all different but why do people not question what they see around them and wonder ... 'I wonder what that's for?' :-/

That's handy... didn't realise that myself. I'll have to have a look inside the filler lid - i've always rested the filler cap on the boot whilst filling up.  :-[
