Just put new pads (Vx) in all round. Car drives fine and stops fine. Just one annoying thing.
Why the blazes is the car telling me it wants new pads............... :P
The message is not there all of the time. It chooses when it wants to appear. No pattern to it. But mainly on first start up then goes out......sooner rather than later. Some times when I switch off the engine it appears.
I did find that the old pads were so low upon compressing the pistons a lot of fluid was returned to the reservoir. This I syphoned out when too high. Could I have too much fluid in there ?
I was very careful with the sensors when I changed the pads. ;)
Any ideas :question :question

I've always replaced them as I rarely remove them without them breaking :(

It is most likely a sensor problem. Did you refit the old ones? Had they worn such the the pad warning came up? If so you need new ones, or just short out the lead and tuck it out of the way.

Yes I refitted the old ones. They came out and went back in easily enough.............. :-?

..but had one of them triggered (worn through)?
Could always be a fractured cable too.

I'd drop in a couple of new sensors - fit aftermarket stuff (seem to remeber Delphi do them). Should cure your problem for a few £

Sensor wires. Most probable its both that are throwing the fault (they are very fragile with age/heat) so buy a replacement pair. 50/50 chance you will change the burst one first and if you do, you have a spare.... :y

stick a meter on sensors, if open circuit, they need replacing.

Good stuff guys. All pointing to the sensors. Will crack on with it as soon as I can ;) :y

my local factors sell lockheed ones £7.50ish a pair :y
