Title: Accelerator cable stuck
Post by: markfree on 23 December 2008, 11:16:52
I tried to remove the plenum to clean the breathers but failed at first hurdle - I can't detach the accelerator cable from the the throttle cam balljoint (and yes I have removed the retaining clip) - is it a matter of using brute force & ignorance (on my part) to get it off or does anyone know of an easy way to detach it.

There's another spring clip inside the socket part that holds/retains the ball, the clip you've taken off is just belts & braces. In the past I've struggled to get the bugger off, & other times it's easily come off. Just try to pry it off the ball evenly & square.
They can be stubborn, I've even seen MarkDTM give up and swing the plenum out the way with the throttle still attached! :o  :y  :y

It is a tight fit. Use a large flat bladed screwdriver. It will give a little extra leverage.
