Title: reduced power and hbv problems...
Post by: ngrainqey on 23 December 2008, 12:15:58
firstly i got asked about a crack/leaking exhaust manifold because their 2.0 mega's running underpowered, they think it's to do with the egr but i'm wondering if the leaking manifold depending how much, could effect the fueling and lambda readings?

also... what does this sound like because to me it sounds like a spooned hbv...(on  2.5 btw)

if the header tank is mildly warm, the cabin air is cold and then (i think) the hbv piping pops and throws water all down the back of the engine and dispenses the coolant :P (could be quite a good shower if you happened to be under the car whilst it was running)

anyway the engine was getting nice and warm with some smoke coming off from under the back of the plenum

thanks

HBV sounds very likely to me.
If you shine a torch in there you will be able to see discolouration around and below the HBV.

Get an original HBV from Vx - about 30 quid (its not on TC but they may give you trade on it).
