I have a 3.2 omega with a problem.... coolant bottle blow with the result of hole system full with cream, i did a cly test and number 6 cly only gave 40psi? others 160>180 so removed head and had skimed then tested cly 6 again once replaced result was 150psi but it still has the problem with cream in coolant? as the fan didn't cut in at weekend when i run the car up, the top hose blow off... now could this be a oil cooler problem or a damaged cly head? Any advice would be great :y

Ensure all the mayo crud has been flushed from the engine and once done, refill with correct mix of antifreeze solution.
Short journeys also give mayo buildup in the filler neck as its open to additional colling air within the engine bay.
If the dipstick is got good clean oil, fair chance you have fixed the problem.
Also, check the maintenance section. Theres a flow chart there to let you suss whether the gasket is still fubar or the oil cooler is now duff...

Back on topic, sounds like a oil cooler issue if oil in coolant. The failed HG is likely due to overheating due to poor coolant circ due to being sludge.

Thanks for all advice, will change oil cooler this weekend and give engine a good flush :y

Well, new oil cooler is in place now. Also flushed cooling system twice and saw improvement at last! but fan didn`t cut in when it should! Switched the mig off before it cooked but built up pressure blew the hose off [smiley=undecided.gif]
Could this be one of radiator heat sensors? (either wm or xa, or both?)
Any advice much appreciated

I have seen radiator switches build up a film of crud on them which insulates them, causing an overheat, so try taking out the radiator fan switch and clean the face, and perhaps another coolant flush for good measure.
While the switch is out, try bridging the contacts and make sure the fans are functioning.

Hi Kevin,
I fitted a new fan switch to my Brother's Renault Laguna the other day after finding power was going to switch and connecting fans directly to the battery and finding that they work ok, but the fans still won't operate on there own when engine gets hot!
Any ideas :question.

Right all sorted at last and can now rest over xmas :) after flushing system 6 times the slugde is cleared and fans now working thanks to advice from Kevin Wood, also great advice from all other omega owners! Hope you all have a smashing xmas :)
