Title: Magnets requested
Post by: hotel21 on 09 November 2007, 20:03:36
Looking to obtain a number of strong magnets (earth magnets??) to assist a project at my local Scouts.  Apparently the magnets within scrap computer hard drives are about the correct size/shape/power to do whats needed.

Anyone able to assist with such things or advise where I could get them at a good price, i.e. 'free' ???   ;D

Cheers James.  More is better, if possible.  Its for a street search game where things are hidden and they have to navigate to locations to find items stuck to lamp posts with magnets.....

No problem, PM a postal address...

BTW these magnets are great for sticking on the inside of the engine sump drain plug and the gearbox filler plug.

Alas, our broken disks have to be sent off complete to a contractor for 'disposal'

Might be worth trying MOD sites, they have to destroy disks onsite, so may be willing to salvage magnets?

Bah! I fried a hard drive the other week (well, it ate itself inside my computer, I didn't put it on GM5 with a splash of Crisp'n'Dry...) - only chucked it out on Tuesday, binmen refuse collection employees have already been and gone...
