Looking to change the cambelt in our 2.0 16v Saloon (99) and seen the DVD so thinking of DIYing it. Just wondering before I buy the DVD do I need a cam locking system (thingy) or can I get away without one?
If I do need one hw much do they cost and where do I get one?
-
you dont "need" a locking kit but you could do with the timing guage to get it spot on- i'v changed a 2.0 belt without anything but some torx sockets for the cams and relevant allen key and sockets for the idlers and tensioner!
-
How much are timing gauges then and where would I buy one?
And is it a hard job or more of a tedious job?
-
There is no timing gauge for the 2.0 16v engines, all you need to do is get the marks on the pulleys lined up with those on the rear cambelt cover.
