Title: 2lt 8v engine drinking alot of oil

Hi all i have a 2lt 8v engine in my car.The engine runs stop on but uses ahell of alot of oil.I only did an oil change about 2 weeks before xmas and iv already had to put more oil in as it wasnt even on the min.The car has done 180,000 miles but not sure if the car has an engine swap or if its the same engine from day one.Can anyone tell me why im using so much oil as its costing me alot of money amonth in oil

if you cant see an obvious leak then its only got one other place to go, & thats out of the exhaust, going on the mileage i would expect it to use oil but not quite as much as you suggest, have you noticed blue/grey exhaust fumes out of the back? if so then its probably just a tired lump :(

No cant see any leaks the only leak iv ever had was from the rocker cover but i replace that and cleaned all the breather pipes.When driving i do see it smoke sometimes and its quite alot but never seen what colour the smoke is.Think it is just a tired old lump

hi.do a compression test first,most common prob at that miles is prob valve stem seals. :y

I know you have replaced the cam cover gasket but did you also check this how to?

Did you look at the crankcase breather to see if this was blocked?
