Title: Engine Management light + Exhaust
Post by: ste_bla on 28 December 2008, 23:13:53
Looking at a car to buy however it has a "blowing exhaust" and the engine management light is perm. on. Would this light be caused by the dodgy exhaust or is it likely to be something else.

Is there anyway I can tell when I am at the car?

Do a quick check of the fault codes (paperclip or pedal trick) - if it relates to the Lambda sensor(s) or fuel trim, then probably yes..  Depends on the codes!

Have you got a link to the guides/how to do these?

Saw them a few weeks ago on here but cant seem to find them now (blind I guess)

would the 2.2 codes be same as 2.0?

Why did I know you were going to say its a 2.2...?  You'll need a code reader for that, sadly.  Codes (I believe - await confirmation though cos i'm not sure) are the same as the DBW V6's - 2.6/3.2?

Nah its a 2.0; but in that link there is no codes for 2.0 only 2.2 upwards
