After installing a baby seat in the back of my Opel Omega B '97 stationwagon, i have been aware of the lack of light in the back seat. The Omega har got interior light fitted over the frontseats of the car and in the luggage compartment. Unfortunately it is not installed interior light on each side of the backseats, only a cover to seal the place it should be mounted.
Hopefully some of you have experience with installing lights in the back? I suppose its easy to prise the cover off and push the interior light in, but what about wiring..? Where to put cable and which connection point should it be conneted to...? Do I need a new fuse for this job..?
I have also heard that the roof panels is hard to detach, is this true..?
Kind regard

Its likely the wiring is there, so worth checking first :)

Thanks for the tip.
I have removed the panel, but there is no wiring underneath.
But the panel is mounted on a U formed steelprofile following the side of the roof, I guess its a part of the chassis construction rather than a wiring channel. However, it would be worth knowing where it ends in case I should consider pulling a wire to the front... :)

What is the default lighting setup on stationwagon?
ppl, do you have lights in the backseat doors and above the backseat doors?
-
I think you are talking about the points for attaching safety net. Rear lights should be directly above the doors, where the grab handles are.

Yeah you're right.
I have been drewling over this set of lights:

Not knowing if this fits on my x20xev.. You think?

They look exactly like what I have. Can't tell you more I am affraid. I would first check if the wiring is there as The Boy suggested. If it is, you will have no problems finding lights at a local scrapyard or e-bay. I would imagine Vectra used the same lights, probably other Vauxhalls as well.

It should fit perfectly.
Yes, it's the same lights as used in Cavalier mk. III, Vectra, Astra, Zafira, Meriva, and Omega

you need to purchase that upgrade kit you saw on ebay, the wiring will connect at the base of the B pillar, you will need to remove the B pillar trim, the floor plastic trims and the trim round where the light fits in order to run the wiring to the light. the wiring kit should also have the 2 pin door connector (grey plastic pin that puts lingt on or off when door open/closed)
about 2hrs work all in.
cheers

Sounds great! thanks a lot guys! :)
Can't wait to have it installed, the lack of light in the backseat should in fact be observed by the test engineers at the factory, but thats a longshot ;)
