Is it possible to replace for normal shocks. Are there any effects to the onboard cpu. :)

I did that on my Senator, but never tried it on a miggy. ::) ::)

My last elite had the levellers replaced with ordinary. Pump used to run at odd times till I took the relay out. Never had a problem but I'm told the spring rate is different,

Not if you take the fuse out for the compressor. TC prices for the proper OE shockers is not that bad though!

Somewhat less than normal retail though ;).
It's what it cost you to fill your fuel tank a couple of months back.
I paid something like £80 each for the rear self levellers on my C reg 2.2 Carlton 15 years or more back.

Not wanting to sound like a dumbass (but that is sometimes unavoidable) how do they work? Is it pneumatic suspension like Citroen used or springs? Can't get my head around it :-[

There's a pneumatic 'bag' in each of the rear shockers that's inflated by a compressor under the front bumper/wing via a level switch on the ROS radius arm.
Isn't Citroen's suspension hydraulic shared with the brakes?

yes which means that hitting the brakes to do an emergency stop is like pushing the pad against the disc with a block of corned beef! lol

thanks for all your replies. considering the car is worth every penny and the mot failed on 1 leaky rear shock i have decided to give the car original self levelers and keep it factory spec.
