Post by: aoliver on 13 January 2009, 12:46:58
I am changing a camcover and Vauxhall have sold me green sealing compound part no. 90542114. Am I right in thinking this should be black and part no. 90585251 ?

Deffo the black you need.

I think the confusion comes from the layout in EPC which makes it look like it is the green that is needed.

Thanks Guys. I've done a forum search and it seems the green stuff is for metal to metal joints and metal to plastic require the black stuff. So it's off to the Vauxhall parts department again for the 5th time !

Yep, the green goo is used on the front bearing cap to head joint (and early 8V units for the cam carrier to head joint).

The black (dark grey) goo is what is required

Can also be brought from a good car spares shop made by Loctite ;)
