hi, I've got a 2.5 TD Elite, my local filling station has started selling bio-diesel does any one know if its ok to use this stuff in the 2.5 diesel engine ?

I'd like to know too!!

afaik, its ok but you need to change filter more often.
Thinking of doing it on the toyota but waitiing for peoples opinions.

Don't think it's good for the pump on the Omega TD, not sure where I read it, but I'm sticking to ordinary diesel.

as said before i know of 4 td that run it and none have had any major issues except for the first couple of thousand miles they kept blocking fuel filters as it cleansed the fuel system, out here diesel has thirty percent bio in it anyway and mine runs with no issues at all, strange thing is when i bring it back to uk and use british diesel it gets rather clattery!!!!! :y

yes it is
i recommend you keep some diesel in the tank too
ie 80% bio 20% diesel
and you may find you need to change your fuel filters more often

I've heard of people using straight vegetable oil (SVO) with no problems, so bio diesel should be fine. The fuel alledgedly picks up some of the crud in your fuel tank so you should change the fuel filter after using the stuff for a while or if you start to get problems.
I fill up if I pass a station selling it as it's cheaper. I've had no issues. Smells nicer than dino fuel as well. :)

it kills the pump on the 4cylinder vx engines but runs fine on the bmw engine

thanks guys, for some reslly good comments, I did'nt realise that it picked up crud from the tank though and don't relish changing fuel filters often, also, my local filling station is selling it at the same price as dino ( I've just found out ) so I wont be gaining any advantage from using it Apart from being green, is'nt it supposed to be cheaper/
