Title: Handbrake Light...
Post by: Mr Hagon on 16 January 2009, 11:49:00
...doesn't go out when I take the handbrake off.  Doesn't cause an issue and the car drives normally.

When I put the handbrake on I need to pull it up all the way.

So, is this a simple case of readjusting the handbrake cable so the handbrake doesn't come up so high, or could there be something more sinister at work.

Check the brake fluid level.....if low, this will also put the brake warning light on.

As for the handbrake, a good service will do it good!

Yup, brake fluid level.  Quick top up and light goes out.

Cheers,

You should still get your handbrake sorted out if its very high as it will not hold properly sooner or later.

low brake fluid can be a sign of low pads somewhere. Or a leak.

Front discs and pads were done a while ago but the Omega barely does 6k a year.  Having topped up the brake fluid I should know if the leak is bad if the light comes on again before the service.
