Title: Mayo in cap
Post by: Kaycee on 19 January 2009, 13:19:08
Just checked my oil filler and the tube is full of the dreaded mayo ad the car serviced just before Xmas i also told him to clean breathers which he said he did i also asked if he put genuine VX oil in and he said no but the semi synthectic he put in was just as good my old CDX 2.5 never had mayo at anytime but this 3.2 as it in every time i check
1 Could it be the oil
2 Could it be breathers not done right
3 Is it because it no longer as the EGR valve as with the engine running and the cap of there is slight smoke coming out of filler

it does not seem to use any oil

i seem to think i read somewhere about useing VX Oil

thanks

Short journeys?

Some oils, particularly the Castrol crap, are more prone than the genuine Vx oil...

Chances are, whatever happens in cap, chances are similar will start happening in breather system...

Robert

shouldnt be anything to worry about, more frequent longer journeys with the engine getting to optimum heat, the mayo should clear

Is the oil filler neck installed? If so, then remove it...
I've done that, and put the oil filler cap directly on cam cover, and have no mayo anymore.
Oil filler neck is in the boot, and when filling up with oil, I just install it...

when you say "full" do you mean solid mayo, or just on the wall of the filler neck/on the cap?

no just a coating around the neck can wipe with a tissue and all gone
