Just lately been getting a swaying feeeling as in a boat when motoring along every bump the car rocks now I'm guessing my shocks are shot at the front or all round maybe.
I have also noticed the front end has dropped slightly whats the chances its just spring related.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am thinking to replace the shock all round come the end of the month including the wishbones and anti roll bars.
What I dont get is it passed the MOT with just a failure on the exhaust which was blowing surely the suspension would have been tested.

Failed shocks are not a fail, only leaking shocks

Does this sound like the end of my shocks or could this be spring related
Have to admit this is looking to be why I hit a speed hump a while back.
More noticable since travelling further for work.
Whats the signs of failing shocks as they seem to settle again when bounced any other tests?

The bounce test is the right test.

Thinking I will be going down the road of fitting new shocks all round.
I have just been looking on here and can only see a guide for rear shock removal.
If someone has done the front shock removal can you give me some pointers.
All the help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Front is straightforward, but need spring compressors and get the camber reset afterwards.
I have to change some front springs, so will do a guide at same time, but depends when I get time to do it...

my MV6s were leaking so i replaced them both! my car just bounced about when i went over speed humps both front ones were leaking at 122k
whilst replacing them i noticed my WB bushes were all nackered so i replaced the wishbones aswell!
replacing the struts is fairly easy to do on the omega hardest part is compressing the spring!
FAO The Boy ive got pix from when i changed myn but dont have the free time atm to write a guide

Thought I might need a set my local motor factors do them for £32 does this sound pricey?

I got a quote from my local motor factors and they quoted me £180 roughly all in for front and rear shocks does this sound a fair price.
Geometry last time I had it done wasn't to pricey but a reminder of how much this usually cost would be a bonus.
Was thinking to get a garage to do all the work but there is no fun in that :)

How much would these be if bought through trade card option?

other hints for finished shocks:
abs will become active frequently..
some irregular noises from shocks ..
when turning curves the car will tilt more than normal on sides..

Well the car at the moment when driven you feel like your on a boat rocks side to side when doing 30-50 anything above that its not so noticable.
Thinking about in cold weather when going over speed humps just up the road you hear a creaking noise, I thought it was the wishbones but thinking about it, could well be the shocks :-/
Have to admit the back end was a little twitchy when turning in places.
The brakes though so far have been ok.

Genuine VX front shocks are about £50 each plus vat and the rears vary between £50 and £70 each, again plus vat, according to an old photocopy TC listing I have. Actual cost varies between car varients.... :y
