Title: ATF Fluid
Post by: hp7166 on 25 January 2009, 08:40:37
I have just tired to get into the box to fill it and there is no bolt on the box but a bolt with no sides and a hole in the middle

Very Strange, took it to a garage and they said it was a sealed unit and could not be done

any tips would be great

youve got the same problem i had, some plugs are a standard 13mm head & others are an allen key type, it is situated on the drivers side near the back top edge of sump, if it rounds off [as mine did] get mole grips really tight on the edges of it & give it some welly then try & locate a hex head one, remember once youve got the plug moving start the car up first or youll get soaked when you take the plug out :y, as for the garage you took it to id keep away from them as they cant be much cop :D

Rob it sounds to me like a torx fitting, rather than an alan key one

(this is why it'd round off with an alan key :D )

If you want to borrow a socket give me a shout and arrange to pop over, alternatively you can get one at halfords for £3...

mine was definately an allen key type, well the hole was hex shaped, probably down to previous attempts prior to me getting it, i tried a torx bit first as i assumed it would be as you say james, anyhow 13mm plug now so no problems ;)
