Hey, just noticed that the airbag warning light is staying illuminated on the dash. However the pedal fault code trick comes up clear with no fault codes. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Many thanks!

Common Omega fault, you can either get someone with a Tech2 to reset it... or, er, don't crash. ;)
-
So i take it the airbag won't work at the moment?
Also could there be any other cause for this or is it just a case of having the OBD read ?
Cheers

The entire SRS is disabled if light is on.
OBDII readers cannot read airbag system, only engine. You need to get it read with equipment capable of reading airbag system.
eg http://theboy.omegaowners.com
Other members may have ability to read airbags as well.

Common Omega fault,
im not so certain this is common, usually the light comes on if you remove the steering wheel or any of the airbags whilst the battery is still connected, a tech 2 or good quality reader will tell you why its been triggered, and providing its something simple like the above, you can reset it.
if one of the units is faulty then its best to have it replaced properly.

Side bags and wheel squib are the usual culprits - occasionally the connectors under seat, esp if something has snagged it
-
thats why i dont find it common then, I dont have side airbags ;D ;D

I did unplug the two big multi plugs by the passenger side a-pillar under the glove box on the two main wiring looms trying to trace the fault with the headlights. Could this be a cause?

Oh yes, most definately ;D
-
in which case a reset with tech 2 should work ok. :y
-
Haha thats gutting, doubly so since the multi plugs proved fruitless with an avo meter!
Is there no other way, mechanically/trick that you can do to reset them?
I would be more than willing to pay a member with a tech2 just there are none close by and if i was to drive all that way and it not solve the problem....
Seems an odd design that unplugging wires can cause this to happen. Surely this just has the same effect as disconnecting the battery or am i missing something?
Many thanks once again! :)

wrongway round, its the same as disconnecting the airbag, hence making the airbag unit think there is a fault

I know of no way without code readers. Post up location, maybe another member can help with reset?

I meant, if the battery is taken out there is no charge in the system so how would the airbag know it hadn't been disconnected?
In saying that i did unplug the multi blocks with the ignition on, only way to check for a voltage.
Oh and i'm in Swansea, South Wales. Any idea how much a stealership charges for this type of things? I'm imagining it to cost an arm and a leg :(
-
the battery supply has to be disconnected for at least 10 mins before you disconect anything to do with the air bag system to avoid the fault light being triggered. disconnecting the 2 connectors in the footwell disconnects the airbags from the unit (wired seperately) it does not disconnect the unit from the battery as you thought. (which in theory would have avoided this isssue)

Ah ok thanks for clearing it up. It makes sense now i think of it ;D
Ah well we live by our mistakes! Thanks a lot for the info guys its been brilliant. Put my mind at rest hehe

dealers often charge £70+vat to plug the computer in!
I have found a cheap one at 1/2 that though.
Back street garages may be able to do it for £10-15.
It's just finding one with a computer that can do it.
