Advise and help needed if possible.
just got my hands on a 2.5 v6 estate off e-bay.
the idea was to take off the road my td estate and sell it as spares or repair and use the v6 for work untill i can afford a small van.
problem is the clutch on the v6 is very close to been knackerd so need to replace it asap, as cheep as possible !
I'm a self employed sparky and people are taking the piss when it comes to paying at the moment :'( :'(
Does anybody ofer a knee capping service ? :)
Have seen a clutch kit on e-bay for about £200 but have been told you need to change the duel mass fly wheel at the same time ???
Is this true ?
Next problem is fitting the bugger.
Is anybody in the Hull area that can help me out with fitting it ?
I like to think im a pretty capable spanner bitch and im more than happy to get my hands dirty but i don't have the stuff to get the thing off the ground high anough !
I know im new to this forum lark so i hope people don't think i'm taking the P*ss
Cheers Tigers_gonads

i got one from the factors for £120,you should shop around, its still lying in the shed 2 yrs later as i sold the car before i had to replace it,but now i need to buy a 3.0 clutch for my ex plod mv6.i dont think you need to replace the flywheel unless its damaged, but i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm sure that must just be a coverall policy for the trade. I'd only change a dual mass flywheel if it was fubar'd. They're expensive new from Vauxhall - best part of a £grand IIRC :o :o

£ 120 ??
I got quoted £ 280 from halfords and thats with a trade card !!
Clutch kit is going on our lassas plasitic ;)
Its down to me to get the thing fitted :'(
I would carry on driving the td but the bottom arms have been going for a while and now they are seriously knocking :(
-
Wouldnt it just be cheaper to sort and drive the TD??
How much were you wanting for the TD as spares repair btw??

I've currently got 3 omegas at the moment ::)
1st one is a 2.5 v6 saloon that has been sat on my garden for 18 months. ( dodgy clutch !! )
Everything else on it is pretty good bar the paintwork.
1st idea was to sell the td and put the saloon back on the road so i can drag my caravan around then we got a bloody big dog so went for this estate.
The td needs the bottom arms doing and the nail that holds the hand brake shoe in place won't hold. Hub a bit rusty so needs a mig welder there.
Its pretty tatty inside and out as its been used for work for nearly 4 years but the engine / gearbox / drivetrain are very good
180.000 miles on the clock .............. the last 25,000 by me :y
I have changed to oil and filter 3 or 4 time a year since ive had it.
Was running hot when i 1st got it so i replaced the radiator / water pump and most of the pipework. since then its run great :y
Alternator was rebuilt last year with new brushes / slip rings and regulator . ( that was a tw*t to get out >:( )
New glow plugs all around and most of the brake pipes aswell
If your around the Hull area, people are more than welcome to have a look :y
Mot till end of april ............. taxed till end of november
Open to very serious offers
2nd idea was to strip the saloon for any usefull bits.
Sell the engine and weigh in the chassis and put whatever money i can make into buying a small diesel car / van and spending the rest on leather / cruse / 3.0 cams for the v6 estate !
Anyway after driving the td 7 days a week for 4 years, i need to feel the grunt of v6 again ;D
Till this happened >:(

Just done mine and didnt need to replace the flywheel. Try Vauxhall dealers, they where quoting me £160 for 3.2 MV6 originally.
Even Halfords with Trade card bits prices are real hit n miss :(
Do you have a Centrals/Unipart etc you could try? :)
-
Will have to look around
The clutch it ok once it engaged ( no judder )
But you only have to drop the clutch peddle half a inch and it starts to slip :'(
-
oh and the TD is a 95 on a M plate
-
Just sounds worn, new clutch set will solve it, flywheel should be fine, mine was slipping in 3rd 4th and 5th and just a clutch has solved it :)
-
Thank F**k for that
Just got to find a cheep one now and fit the bugger :y
