Title: Water in spark plug well, 2.2lt petrol ecotec
Post by: harryk on 14 February 2009, 12:08:00
2.2lt petrol auto 2002 ecotec CDX omega.

Had some misfiring problems, which were cured for a couple of months  by fitting new plugs and DIS pack.

The problem has returned. When I take the DIS pack out, I sometimes find mositure /condenation on the plug caps, and I have once found a tiny bit of water in the well of the spark plug nearest the driver.

Were might the water be coming from?
I can't see any sign of water leaks.
I've heard something about a heater valve that can fail?
Were is is?

Thanks

not that familiar with the layout of the 2.2 but i can only imagine that either the windscreen seal or the scuttle are not sealing properly and allowing watter to drip onto the engine from the wind screen. Had the above on my v6 but did not have any missfire problems although there was a missfire code stored when i bought it(hence the video in pedal trick/paper clip guide) and the hbv(water valve, guide in maintenance link at bottom of my post) and wiper connecting rods needed changeing.

Water getting round the scuttle seal and dripping onto the head.

I've had this, it's caused by the bottom windscreen seal.

Take it off and re-seal it.
