Hi everyone my 3ltr vauxhall omega had recently failed an MOT test from a vauxhall garage and to get my car to pass the mot it would cost me nearly two grand if i let the mechanics at vauxhall to go ahead. Before i write down what my car failed on i just like to know would it be worth me getting my car fix or should i scrap it.I don't want scrap my car cos i like it very much and the body work is in excellent condition so for me to keep my car i just want to buy the parts for my car at a reasonable cost and i'll get a good mechanic to fit it. Here is the things that my car failed on and can you please tell me for every fail that i list how much would the parts cost me and if you have any pictures of the parts i'll be gratefull to see it (1) Nearside rear (intermitantly works when tapped) stop lamp not in good working order (function impaired) (1.3.2b) (2) Nearside front track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.b.1f) (3) Nearside rear coil spring fractured (2.4.c.1a) (4) Nearside front suspension arm rubber bush bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.g.3) (5) Offside front suspension arm rubber bush bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.g.3) (6) Nearside rear (arm resting on rear frame) trailing arm rubber bush bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement (2.4.g.3) (7) Offside rear (arm resting on frame) trailing arm synthetic bush deteriorated rrsuolting in excessive movememnt (2.4.g.3) (8) Offside front (manifold blowing ) exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (7.1.2a) thats what my car has failed on and plus they said the power steering resevior is leaking onto a/b/s pump and the heating is not working. I'll be very grateful to read your opinions thanks

doesnt sound like a lot to me, i think 2k is excessive for that list. i have no idea of cost but i would take it to an independant for a quote!
-
£2k is taking the pi$$.
a couple of hundred quid should sort it out if you use pattern parts.
How old is the car and where are you?
-
this times you can buy nice omega for grand with long mot and tax,

Hi
Try a company called "autovaux" good prices, some are the same gm parts at low prices.
-
I'd try Ebay as well.
I recently bought a set of wishbones (or front suspension arm as your MOT station calls them) including bushes and ball joint for just under £40 delivered :) they have the rear springs as well
-
Yeh i got my wishbones on ebay for about £40 with delivery and are good for the money but 2k what a piss take but there again it is vauxhall.Try another garage but they will charge you about 3 times less for that

Thanks for the the suggestions i did have a look at ebay and the prices are well cheap and autovax is cheaper than buying from vauxhall. I'll be getting all the parts and get a reliable mechanic to fit them. Andy B my car is an R reg 1998 and i'm from watford
