Hi guys just a quick one really. When i drill the holes in the floor do i drill then to the right size for the bolts and feed the spacers under or drill them to size for the spacers to fit in.
-
Oh yeah one more thing would it be helpful if i weld the heads on the bolts so its easyer to do the bolts up as i dont have long arms lol

Does this help?
I wouldn't weld the bolt heads up, you need an assistant in the boot with a spanner. I managed to just wedge a spanner in place to hold them.

If you dont have an Assistant, Stretch some Amalgamating Tape (TV / Sat Shop) arround the bottom half of the bolt head and washer, it will do up a treat. Gets me out of trouble on all sorts of jobs. :y

Drill the holes to the size of the spacers then drop the spacers into the holes. Large washers go under the bolt head and then put the bolt down through the spacers and out the bottom and nuts with more washers go underneath.

Ok well i`ll give it ago if not a`ll just weld the bolt heads :y
-
Stick a spanner on the bolt head, gently rotate the nut underneath until the spanner wedges against the chassis holding the bolt in place for you to do up the nut :y

I've only ever fitted a saloon's towbar, but on a saloon you're only ever drilling clearance holes for the 10mm? 12mm? bolts. The O/D of the spacers of around 25 mm is already in the underside of the chassis leg and all the spacers are for is so that you're tightening up to the boot floor.

When I fitted my old estate one it was 10mm drill into the pre marked positions in the boot...
-
I think i`ll be alright fitting the towbar its the wiring up i dont like lol but i should be fine :y
-
The towbars I have seen have flanges to hold the bolt head whilst you are underneath tightening the nuts up :y
-
The saloon ones with the plate on the boot floor inside do...estate ones dont...

Fitted the towbar 2day was really easy to fit to be honest only prob i had was getting the nuts of the exhaust heat shild.Got it all wired up 2 but cant see if they work as dont have anything to test it too :y
