strange one, never came across somthing like this before.
Cut the story short id decided to see what i could get (on a private road of course!) and was reaching about the 120 mark and the autobox was letting it rev to about 7,000rpm?? not in sport mode either, a red engine management light came on so i slowed down and after about 300yards it went off and has not come back on since.
Is this somthing disaster waiting to go bang or could it clearly be a bit of crud getting on on the engine sensors?
mines a 1998 2.5v6 elite auto.
any help would be great just to put my mind at rest

EML can come on briefly and go out again, think it is documented in the handbook.
Nothing to worry about, even if you read the codes, probably nothing stored.
edit : sure it was EML? mine is more yellow than red?

the one that came on mine is the one that comes on when you put the ignition on, shaped like a gearbox with a spanner, as i say it was only on briefly
