i am wiring the LPG loom in today and need some help with the wiring at the Lambda sensors - which colour wire to i break into in order to connect the loom to?

i know it has got to be the feed to the ECU, might have a word with an auto sparky.
James, the chap was telling you that there was no need to cut the injection loom, what did he suggests as an alternative?

I was looking at this yesterday. The Y32SE engine wiring (don't know if it's the same for earlier systems) shows the 2 sensor wires from each of the Lambda probes going straight into separate pins on the ECU. This is true for all 4 sensors and there's no indication of a common ground reference or if the sensors are "floating" in some way. There may well be a common ground for all 4 inputs but this will only come to light by checking for continuity at the pins on the ECU, I fear. Failing that get it idling hot and see if the voltage is cycling 0-1v on one of the pins.
I suspect some cutting of the looms will be required in this area. Only other option is if there's a piggy-back connector at the sensor end. Not sure if the SGI system actually needs the Lambda signal other than for display purposes while setting up.
You'll need an RPM signal as well, which will have to come from the ECU's tacho output I believe.

He literally just told me that the piggyback connectors plug in, without the need to cut wires.

That's presumably one of the coil feeds? I figured the feed to the dashboard tacho would be a cleaner signal but I think the system can be configured to take pretty much anything.
Wish I hadn't left my laptop with the diagrams at work!

Dont use the dis pack wiring, use the ecu rpm signal....its much cleaner.
The lambdas on the Motronic steup are 3 wire affairs, two for the heater and one for the lambda sense, the 0V side of the lamda and heater wiring are commoned and connected to the back of the passenger head (from memory), the heater 12V feed is direct from one of the main relays and its only the sense wires that connect to the ECU.
Cant remember which these are though as I dont have a scm to hand.

Need to on the DBW engines. BTW the previous car had its DIS fried by a short in the loom

The RPM signal is a specific pin on the ECU (pin 43 - green wire) and goes to pin22 (green wire) on the instruments and pin 30 of the ABS unit (green wire) plus pin 6 (green wire) of the MID.

Lambda wiring
1-3-5 bank - ecu pin 28 brown/blue wire
2-4-6 bank - ecu pin 47 brown/blue wire

Have you got the wiring for the Y32se handy, Mark?
Maybe you could cast an eye over it.. I'm pretty sure it was 4 wire, with +12v going to the heater, heater return straight into ECU and both sensor cell connections straight into ECU with no indication which is signal and which is 0v (if any).

Mixture control Lamdas
P32 - 1-3-5 Bank
Brown Black - X85 pin 60
Blue - X85 Pin 28
P36 - 2-4-6 Bank
Brown Black - X85 pin 12
Blue - X85 Pin 44
More often than not the two colour wires indicate a signal wire so I know which ones I would be guessing with first!
