I've stripped down the front as I'm trying to locate the source of a squeek, seems to be coming from driver's side camshafts. Checked the timing as I changed the belt recently. Noticed that the lower tensioner seems to be leaking grease or something (see pic below). Is this normal? It's only been on a week and only driven about 10 miles...

Was it genuine Vx kit mate?

Yes

After 10 miles wouldn't have expected grease to come out of bearing! Take your photo into stealers and say you're not happy!!

Thanks dbug. I've got a spare tensioner I can put on in the mean time but I'm a bit worried now about the other tensioners. :(

is it grease come out, or was it there when you fitted it?

It's the grease come out as it was not there when I fitted it. Really do have serious problems now though... I changed over two of the tensioners from th eother new set I have. I did not need to remove the belt, but after setting the tension etc. started to turn the crank shaft and it somehow managed to get a lot of slack arount the crank end and the crank started turning without the belt! I don't know how many teeth - I reckon 4 or 5 but no way to tell. It must be about 80 degrees past TDC. HELP!!! :'(
