hi all i fancy a bit of body colour coding and was wondering if before i start anybody can tell me how the plastic side mouldings from along the side of the car are held on?is it body trim tape or are they clipped or even fixed thru the door/wing skins?thanks

Both :y

2 clips and trim tape hold on the metal backing to the door panel, the plastic part is glued onto the metal backing, usually they seperate or tear if you ty and remove them without heating the glue first, I used a good hairdryer, heat gun is too hot.
;)

thanks guys, better look out the old hair drier then.

Interesting point...
I have seen quite a few Omegas with the plastic bit loose from the passenger side rear door front edge...
Why always this place...??
:)
-
The metal plate corrodes/rusts (causing the rainbow marks down the bottom of the doors) and the plastic section comes away. they should have used aluminium, or like the cav's just bonded the plastic straight to the door.

Yes. I too thought that bonding plastic straight onto panel would be better...
